She wrote this report and some of her information came from an interview with me and our pharmacy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);\"><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Everyone knows that a pharmacist fills prescriptions of medication and provides them<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0for their customers, but their<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0job can get much more complex than this.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">One can be a community pharmacist or a healthcare pharmacist. A community pharmacist typically advises<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0their<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0customers on dosage of drugs<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, the side effects, and even\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">distributes over-the\u2013<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">counter medication<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">. In addition to this<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">,<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0some pharmacies choose to do compounding which is the combining of two different meds. A healthcare pharmacist would usually work in a hospital directing the staff concerning different medication and guiding patients before they leave the hospital. If someone chooses to become a pharmacist they can also choose a more specialized field such as focusing mainly on cancer patients or actually\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">producing\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">new drugs. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);\"><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">The working conditions vary depending on where they work<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">,<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0but several pharmacist<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">s<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0spend the majority of their day on their feet and work around forty hours a week. Initially a pharmacist spent a lot of time interacting with customers but now<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">,<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0due to insurance<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">,<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0more time is spent dealing with insurance companies and technicalities in paper work. They also have to deal with irate customers who are mad at their insurance company.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">After two tears of science related studies in college one can apply to pharmacy school. They then must get a\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Pharm.D<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">. Degree which\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">takes four years.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">In the US all pharmacist must have a license. They obtain this by having a Pharm\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">D<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0degree and passing the NAPLEX (North American Pharmacist Licensure Exam<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">). Also the US requires potential pharmacist<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0to pass a test on pharmacy law.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">The top\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">ten Pharmacy schools in the US are the<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">se\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">universities<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">:<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0Ohio State, Purdue, Arizona, San Francisco, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina and Southern Califo<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">rnia. G<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">r<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">eat pharmacy schools nearby are<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">University<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0of Georgia<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, University of South Carolina,\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">and College of Charleston<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">. In<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0200<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">8 there were 269,900<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0pharmacists employed<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);\"><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">They can acquire a job anywhere in the US, and in many parts of the world. In some other countries they actually have to be extra qualified because they do a greater amount of over-the-counter sales and have to advise their customers more.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">The job outlook for a pharmacist is supposed to be excellent. One big component of this is because of the demand for medication. New drugs are constantly being developed, individuals are rapidly taking more, and insurance is frequently covering cost.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);\"><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">In addition medication is becoming more and more complicated so there is need for pharmacists to guide their customers so that dangerous complications don\u2019t take place. The average earnings of a pharmacist are roughly from around 93,000 dollars to<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">122, 000. However, this changes depending on whether they are independent or not. Also, a relief pharmacist makes about sixty dollars an hour.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);\"><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Pharmacy is ninety-five percent math and chemistry so these<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0courses<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0are absolutely necessary to take and\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">excel<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0in\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">in\u00a0<\/span><\/span><a name=\"_GoBack\"><\/a><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">high school<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u00a0Some other helpful courses would be biology, physics, and various math classes.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s3\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Pharmacy can be hard and frustrating at times but it is also rewarding and can be used to help others.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Molly Landis is a family friend of mine.
