Back in 1994, after voting absentee, I was in Atlanta on the day after the election. I remember reading in the paper that the Republicans had just taken control of the United States House of Representatives and have elected Rep. Newt Gingrich as the new speaker. I will never forget that day. I don’t know where I was when I learned that the Democrats took control of Congress as I am trying to forget that day.
It was my honor to introduce former speaker of the House Newt Gingrich to the Senate last Thursday (05.21.09). I appreciate the staff of Governor Sanford for asking me to host the speaker.
