Davis emerges as conservative quarterback

April 24, 2009 by Kevin Bryant

qbAs the Senate continues to debate the 09-10 appropriations, we need to take time to compliment Freshman Senator Tom Davis (R-Beaufort). As you know, on Tuesday, 04.14.09, Senators Greg Ryberg (R-Aiken) and Davis rolled out an alternative budget to the current budget presented by the Senate Finance Committee.  Initially this budget was chuckled off as a fake ploy that could easily be dismantled. One Republican staffer is on record as saying “it’s so full of holes it was nearly laughable”.

Well, Davis wowed the Senate Finance committee so much, his plan may have passed if a vote were permitted. Davis repeatedly answered question after question.

On Wednesday, 04.22.09 Davis took the Senate floor to defend the budget again, catching bomb after bomb. Tom showed us true statesmanship, politely answering critics of  the Ryberg/Davis budget (RDB).

As you know, conservative numbers have increased in the SC Senate, committed to limited government and personal freedom. Yet, Davis has emerged as our quarterback, as he understands the budgeting process very well.
