Anderson Co. Improvements: Brown/King & Concord/Harris Br. Rd.

March 10, 2016 by Kevin Bryant

potholeWith all our potholes, these projects don’t seem to be a priority to me, but here’s an open forum for you, the taxpayer.

PROPOSED INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS: CONCORD ROAD AT HARRIS BRIDGE ROAD AND KINGS ROAD AT BROWN ROAD

Thursday, March 24, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the North Pointe Elementary School Auditorium located at 3325 SC 81, Anderson, South Carolina, 29621. The meeting will be a drop-in format with displays for viewing. A formal presentation will not be given at this time.

In the future, if an official Public Hearing is held, a formal presentation will be given during the meeting, and citizens will have the opportunity to make formal, verbal comments immediately following.

Purpose: To provide information and solicit feedback from area residents concerning the proposed intersection improvements at the following two locations: Concord Road at Harris Bridge Road and Kings Road at Brown Road.

The intersection at Concord Road and Harris Bridge Road is proposed to be reconstructed as a roundabout that will also realign Cathey Road as part of the intersection. The intersection at Kings Road and Brown Road is also proposed to be reconstructed as a roundabout. The purpose of these projects is to improve the operation, efficiency, and safety of the intersections, thereby improving the level of service as well.

SCDOT will also gather information from the public or any interested organization on historic or cultural resources in the community. Engineering, Right of Way, and Environmental personnel from the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will be available to answer questions. Plans will be displayed showing the proposed projects.

Contact: Additional information concerning the project may be obtained by contacting Mr. Chris Jordan, SCDOT Program Manager at (803)737-4964 in Columbia, SC. Persons with disabilities who may require special accommodations should contact Ms. Betty Gray at (803)737-1395.
