“That’s why we call it an open forum” and “All we try to do here is put forth information” I’ve heard Rick say many times. Who knows what the listeners and callers will want to talk about on Monday morning, but I’ll be on air to take whatever they sling my way. Tune in to 1230 am or to listen online, click here.

Let’s talk about education! Start your New Year off right by attending our 1st meeting of 2012 with special guest speaker Dr. Mick Zais. He will discuss the state of our public schools and the impact of federal money on the state budget process.
Dr. Mitchell M. “Mick” Zais took the oath of office as State Superintendent of Education on January 12, 2011. Dr. Zais grew up in a military family, attending ten public schools in twelve years. Before winning public election as the seventeenth State Superintendent of Education, he served as President of Newberry College for ten years. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, he served thirty-one years on active duty in the United States Army, retiring as a Brigadier General.

77 years ago, Anderson got its first wwi memorial, the spirit of the doughboy. After the third vandalism in 2008, here’s a brand new replacement. Many thanks to the Rainey family for leading the fundraising efforts to accomplish this project.

Senators Ryberg, Grooms, Verdin, Bright & I are hosting a fundraiser for newly elected Rep. Josua Putnam. It will be at the Captal City Club in Columbia on Friday 11.18.11 at noon.
Joshua won his special election Anderson County this summer and will start his first session in Columbia in January. He is a young talent and former staff member in the office of Congressman Jeff Duncan. He brings great knowledge and enthusiasm to his office. Rep. Putnam & I serve the same constituents, and I’ve been impressed with his work ethic and commitment to the people of Anderson.
We would love to have your support. If you have any questions for Rep. Putnam, please contact him at www.joshuaputnam.com
