Ann thinks I’m an ubergeek for blogging from panera about the things we’re doing in Alpharetta on my birthday trip but she’s happy to have her Dr. pepper, chai tea latte and book.

not the same romantic atmosphere as the Varsity downtown, but the frosted orange and onion rings are to die for. You may not know it, put I presented Ann with her engagement ring on the straw of a Varsity frosted orange. After 3 times, she finally said “yes”.

Wonderful pasta with seafood in a light cream sauce finished off with a blue berry cheese cake dessert. Our table was on a deck next to a river with a water fall just a few feet away. The B&B restaurant is situated in an old flour mill dating back to 1720. It is on an island (l’Île-d’Orléans) about 20 miles north of Quebec City. This was by far our favorite spot!

D’Orsay Resteraunt Old Quebec city
We shared a less than average steak and a not-so-fresh caesar salad in this run down British pub. Disappointing. I guess the location in Old Quebec city keeps them open. This was probably our only disappointing meal in Quebec.

stash cafe: I was pleasantly surprise that Ann cooperated in a Polish adventure. Even though she’s a Barinowski, she doesn’t like to go exploring with unusual foods. We tried the Pierogi: Dumplings stuffed with a choice of meat, chesse or cabbage and served with sour cream. We recommend a mixture of choices. It had a relish that reminded me of a sweet mild chow chow from back home. The cabbage was a little krauty, but good.

The Keg Ann started with a oven baked lobster with garlic, herbs, and melted Monterey jack and cheddar cheeses. I had a good spinach salad with roasted walnuts, craisens, and a very light vinaigrette dressing. We then shared an Awesome medium rare filet mignonne with the Keg’s special steak sauce. The sauce was kind of tangy with a tiny kick to it. Service was exceptional.
We finished by splitting a home made key lime pie with a drizzle of raspberry coulis.
Only problem was as Montreal was on the fringe of hurricane Irene, I didn’t notice the no parking sign after dropping off Ann around the curb. $52 bucks for a parking ticket, ouch!

Our first meal in Quebec City was great. We had a pasta duck confit, manicotti-like pasta filled with cheese and duck. It was very fresh pasta (made on site I bet). We also had fresh french bread and butter, strong coffee, and salad. The salad was a perfect mixture of greens with a very light vinaigrette dressing and pine nuts. We sat beside a window open to the sidewalk with perfect weather. I’m gonna like saying Bon appetit! the hobbit bistro

1ST MONDAY CLUB OF ANDERSON
“Where Politics and Business Meet”
July 18, 2011
What would you think about a new lunch club in Anderson to hear guest speakers discuss politics and/or business? A group of Andersonians believe it is time for this concept to become reality!
1st Monday Club of Anderson was formed in June 2011 to hopefully involve more people in the political process and to receive the latest information on issues that affect all of us with our businesses and families.
1st Monday Club of Anderson is a grassroots, conservative organization that is not affiliated with any political party but hopes to advance common sense conservative ideas on a local, state and national level. We will NOT endorse candidates but hope to offer you the opportunity to meet candidates, elected officials and other community leaders.
Our lunch will always be “dutch treat” and we will offer a buffet at Masters Wok for $10. There will be a yearly membership of $20 or you may pay $5 at the door. This will help off set certain expenses that will be kept at a minimum. JOIN US FOR THE FIRST MEETING AT NO CHARGE OTHER THAN YOUR LUNCH!
1st Monday meetings will always be on the first Monday of each month beginning Monday, August 1st at Noon. The exception will be in September when the 1stMonday falls on Labor Day. We will meet the following Monday. The locations of our monthly meetings will be at Masters Wok on North Main Street and will last no longer than one hour. Our inaugural speaker will be SC Representative Brian White, newly elected Chairman of the House Ways and Means. Rep. White will discuss the budget process and will update us on this past session. He will also be available for questions.
Please RSVP to rsvp@1stmondayanderson.com by Friday, July 29th .
HOPE YOU WILL MARK YOUR CALENDAR AND BE PART OF THIS NEW GRASSROOTS GROUP!
