Ryberg: LETTER: Comments wrong and insulting
By GREG RYBERG – Aiken
President Obama recently said that the hard-working, risk-taking and self-sacrificing entrepreneur is not responsible for their own success but that they owe their success to the government. Aside from being insulting, it actually is exactly opposite of the truth.
The hard-working, risk-taking and self-sacrificing entrepreneur is responsible not only for their own success, but also anything and everything that the government manages to do right, which often is not much. The subsidies that Barack Obama received to attend college and law school came from some entrepreneur who either paid their business taxes or employed someone who paid their income taxes or simply donated to the school so people like Obama could go for free.
When Barack Obama taught law school, entrepreneurs paid for his office and computer and salary and benefits. They now pay his salary as president of the United States.
Barack Obama truly would be nothing without the entrepreneurs who have paid his way from the cradle up to now. I don’t expect him to thank them, but at least he should stop insulting them.

And here’s what it tells us: I’m right, and clever too.

To condescendingly critique my writing only to end with a statement as that, while completely ignoring the argument, is telling.

Let’s begin with the clarification that the word is “conext” and not “contents”. The revelation of your illiteracy, Ronnie, of course explains the other contents (this is the proper use of the word) of your post. I also do not see, dear Ronnie, where the letter says that BHO “uttered those words”. If the letter was making such a claim, then it would have offset those words with quotation marks.
You are correct that there is no record of BHO claiming to have made it on his own, and I’ll bet that one look at those college transcripts would confirm that. That irrelevance aside, the continuation of your illiteracy into the second paragraph makes it nigh impossible to discern any meaning from your rant. One presumes that you meant to say “lest” and not “least”, and this is not even intelligible: “it’s your sophomoric grasp of insulting voter’s intelligence….”
The long and short is that Obama simply said that small business people are not responsible for their own success. The reality is that without small business people, Obama really would have been born in Kenya because there would have been no Harvard for his daddy to leech off of.
In the meantime, buy yourself a grammar book. It’ll do you good.

While I use the word “lie” cautiously, your claim that “President Obama recently said that the hard-working, risk-taking and self-sacrificing entrepreneur is not responsible for their own success but that they owe their success to the government”, considering the arguments of his statements taken out of contents, is an outright lie. He never uttered those words. That interpretation (while I’m satisfied you worded cautiously) is simply your interpretation, not what he said. If you want to manipulate context, you yourself should be accountable for your very own context.
I don’t recall President Obama making claims that he achieved any status of his career solely on his own. Come to think of it, you didn’t acquire your position solely on your own. Someone helped you, least you’ve always had a mindset of “I don’t need no damn voters”. Someone got you to where you are today. If there’s anything wrong or insulting, it’s your sophomoric grasp of insulting voter’s intelligence with such disingenuous rhetoric and spin.
