gov. pays back part of trip
STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR MARK SANFORD, GOVERNOR
Gov. Sanford Issues Statement on Commerce Trip
Columbia, S.C. – June 25, 2009 – Governor Mark Sanford today issued the following statement:
“As noted by the Department of Commerce, I attended a trade mission with the Department of Commerce last June. As the agenda notes, the mission was spent meeting with government and private business officials in both Brazil and Argentina. This trip was handled very professionally by the Department of Commerce, and I’m proud of their work there.
“However, while the purpose of this trip was an entirely professional and appropriate business development trip, I made a mistake while I was there in meeting with the woman who I was unfaithful to my wife with. That has raised some very legitimate concerns and questions, and as such I am going to reimburse the state for the full cost of the Argentina leg of this trip,” Gov. Sanford said.

Is there a club for disgraced, sanctimonious, family-values Republicans? If not, there should be. It would be a powerful group. Newter, Craig, Vitter, the Drugster, Henry Hyde. Who am I missing? Plus, the uncountable secend and thrid tier standard bearers, like the anti-gay crusader in FL who offered to pay a man to perform sex on him in a bathroom because there were a lot of African Americans around and he was scared?
And it seams strange that Kevin Bryant s such a fawning supporter of these sleaze-bags. Just sayin…

HE PAID BACK PART OF THE TRIP??? Is that really what Republicans are hanging there hats on?
For those of you keeping score at home:
The Republican led state senate was WORTHLESS this year.
“As the year in the Senate comes to a close, I must admit that this was the most worthless session in my 5 years of service” — Kevin Bryant
Senior Republicans are SELLING OUT junior Republicans.
“In Columbia, the blame game is always in play, but this year I’m amazed how much blame is being cast to a first year freshman.” — Kevin Bryant
The Republican govenor was INEFFECTIVE
“The destruction of the wall between the legislative and executive branches, a wall not very high and not very strong in the beginning, simply reveals that the status of South Carolina as a legislatively-dominated state lives on” — Kevin Bryant
The Republican governor was OUTPOWERED
The SC Senate demanded “the governor exercise a right that both state and federal law…leave solely to his discretion ” — Kevin Bryant (paraphrase)
And the Republican governor was a DISAPPOINTMENT.
“My initial reaction is that I’ve felt like I’ve been kicked in the gut. Speechless. Shocked. Angry. Disappointed.” — Kevin Bryant
Oh yeah and…the Rep. nominee for Vice President is being investigated for ethics complaints, Fmr Rep. Spkr of the House had to apologize for falsely accusing someone of being a rascist, Rep. Senator admits extramarital affair, Fmr Bush Sec Def accuses Fmr Bush Sec of State of playing loose with the facts…and then there are the newly released Nixon tapes…and the detainee abuse reports…and…and…well we’ll see what happens tommorow.
